Contributing to the Revitalization of Local Agriculture through Local Production for Local Consumption

Kubota supports local production for local consumption and local farmers through the sale and use of locally grown agricultural products.

The Kubota Tsukuba Plant, which began operations in 1975, is one of the production bases for tractors and industrial engines, and it takes pride in its world-class production capacity. As part of the local community engagement activities, the plant, which employs approximately 2,500 people, both holds the Tsukuba Marche which sells local agricultural products, and uses local rice in its employee cafeteria.

Vegetables, fruit, and meat produced by nearby farmers who use Kubota agricultural machinery, are sold at the Tsukuba Marche, which is held once a month at the plant. In addition to supporting local production for local consumption, and support for farmers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, low-priced, fresh agricultural products are delivered to our employees fostering a sense of gratitude towards the farmers.

In addition, the plant cafeteria uses rice purchased from nearby farmers who are users of Kubota agricultural machinery. Like Tsukuba Marche, we contribute to the revitalization of local agriculture through local production for local consumption.

Furthermore, we continuously hold company cafeteria events jointly sponsored by local governments at K'rossing, the employee cafeteria in Kubota's Building No. 2 in Osaka Prefecture.

At these events, the menu provided to employees offers agricultural, forestry and fishery produce from all around the nation, including the Kansai region where the Kubota headquarters is located. Up through FY2022, employees were able to taste meals incorporating agricultural, forestry and fishery produce from seven prefectures (for a total of nine times) which leads to the increased consumption of such produce sourced from various regions, as well as raising employee awareness, and encouraging communication among fellow employees.

By promoting local production for local consumption, Kubota will continue to support and contribute to local agriculture while also providing employee benefits.
