Working to Resolve Food Shortages through Agricultural Support that Includes Tractor Donations
Among those in the world who still continue to suffer from food shortages are the indigenous Aeta people in the Philippines. Kubota Philippines is working to resolve the food challenges that local communities face by donating agricultural machinery to the Aeta people and assisting them on how these machineries can be operated.
Kubota Philippines, Inc. (KPI) has been contributing to the improvement of agricultural productivity and food self-sufficiency in the Philippines. Kubota agricultural machinery is being used throughout the country, and it can be said that KPI business has developed a big impact in the enhancement of the country’s agriculture.
From the perspective of corporate social responsibility, KPI launched its community outreach program in 2016. Various program activities have been done including orphanage visitation as well as supporting the agriculture of the Aeta people, the indigenous people and the oldest ethnic group in the Philippines.
The Aeta people primarily made their living through agriculture. However, a major 1991 volcanic eruption caused soil degradation to their area, and food shortages have become a serious problem since then. In October 2019, KPI donated a Kubota hand tractor with a RK80 engine to support the Aeta people’s farming operation and held a dinner to strengthen the relationship with them and to understand more of their situation to see how KPI can further help them.
We are happy to help no matter how big or small these problems are. Our agricultural support to reduce food shortages will continue, and as a company adored by the community, we will make every effort towards the sustainable development of local communities.
