Construction Equipment Engineering Department North America

Kansas, U.S.A

Major R&D Areas
  • Development of Compact Track Loaders (CTL) up to 60 horsepower
  • Verifying CTL performance, durability and quality to meet stringent customer requirements
  • Supporting research and development for other locations

Construction Equipment Engineering Department North America, established in 2021, is the Kubota Construction Machinery Division’s first overseas research and development center. It develops CTLs, a product for which demand has been increasing in recent years. In the main CTL market, the center promotes designing and development of products toward the United States, Canada, and Australia. The center has various test facilities including gravel and soil fields, rough roads, and slopes, enabling a wide range of performance testing. It also supports product development for other locations, by providing use of their facilities for tests and evaluations that cannot be easily be performed in Japan. Along with Kubota’s knowledge of the construction market and products, it will promote product development more closely aligned with local needs in an environment even closer to customers.

Behind the Scenes: Research & Development

  • Executing hydraulic adjustment tests in environments close to the actual use of the product.

  • Inspecting off-road performance and other characteristics on a test course with uneven surfaces.

  • Conducting driving tests under harsh conditions for construction machinery often used on inclined or uneven ground.

  • Measuring the lifting force of CTLs using specialized equipment.

  • Implementing driving tests on slopes of various angles.

  • Designing models, which are then shared with the team for review and improvement.
