The Kubota Corporation (Head Office: Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan; President and Representative Director: Yuichi Kitao; hereinafter “Kubota”) will create an exhibition related to “Food and Agriculture” as a platinum partner sponsoring “Future Life Expo: Future City”—one of the Future Society Showcase Projects—at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Kubota will present exhibits on “Food and Agriculture” in the “Future City” pavilion, which will depict a future Society 5.0 (a human-centered society which achieves both economic development and the resolution of social issues).

1. Theme

The theme for the exhibits will be “For the future with planetary-conscious* ‘Food and Agriculture’ that are friendly to the Earth and to people.” They will introduce the technologies of Kubota that can achieve both a prosperous society for people and the sustainability of the global environment, and will also present the future of “Food and Agriculture.”

  • “Planetary-conscious” expresses a state in which a prosperous society and the sustainability of the global environment are simultaneously achieved within the “planetary boundaries”, which are the limits of the Earth.

2. Concept

The concept of the exhibition area has been set as “Kubota Germination Lab: Laboratory for a future of ‘Food and Agriculture’ that are friendly to the Earth and to people.”

We aim to create this area as a place for the “germination” of insights and new ideas for the future of "Food and Agriculture," which have evolved alongside humanity and sustained our lives.

Interactive exhibits and experiences that utilize the entire space will be used to provoke insights and ideas on the following three messages.
  1. Life and “Food and Agriculture” are connected from the past to the present and into the future, and you yourself are someone taking on a role in that.
  2. Recognizing the importance of considering the entire food system from production to consumption, as well as the essential role of technology in supporting it.
  3. Collaborative creation by people of diverse backgrounds will lead to a future of sustainable “Food and Agriculture.”

3. Contents

  • The future of “Food and Agriculture” will be shown to the visitors in a display combining an over 20-meter wide awning screen and a huge LED monitor. Visitors will experience a society that balances diverse needs and sustainable food systems, achieved by fully unmanned and autonomous agricultural machinery and an advanced data platform.
  • At the center of the exhibition area, visitors will be able to play a simulation game as future farmers themed around "Food and Agriculture." We are planning to create an experience where not only the players, but also other visitors, can enjoy the game together.
  • Throughout the period before and during the Expo, we plan to hold collaborative opportunities to consider the future of "Food and Agriculture." These will be entered around the next generation and be both offline and online.
