The basis function of paints is protections and decoration. However in addition to these two functions, functional paints have functions such as antifungal, antialgal, antimicrobial, water-proofing, antisoiling, antistatic, moisture permeable, thermal barrier, heat insulating, high durability, wear resistant and sliding properties.

Kubota's "TXAX" (potassium titanate) has a large diameter long fiber "sheet-shape" to create a superior paint filler. Chemical properties or the structural improvement imparted by use of a special crystal structure increases the capabilities of functional paints.
